Raymond E. Scoggins, 93, of Ooltewah, TN, passed away, Monday, January 12, 2016. A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he was of the Baptist faith. He was retired from Yellow Freight Systems with 46 years of service and was a Veteran of W.W. II, serving in the U.S. Army. His loves in life were playing golf, bowling and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Scoggins; son, Buddy Scoggins; daughter Patricia Grandstaff and a sister-in-law, Opal Scoggins.
Survivors include his daughter, Margaret Sue "Boots” (Charles) Cypher, Pinson, AL; son, Phillip (Sherry) Sons, Chattanooga; brother, W.O. Scoggins, McDonald, TN; daughter-in-law, Ann Scoggins; grandchildren, Chris (Dee Dee) Scoggins, Britney Sons, Michelle (Barrett) Milliard, Ginger (Scottie) Fain, Tina (Sam) King, Wesley Grimmett and Susan Talley; great-grandchildren, Elliott, Micah, Destiny, Joshua, Jordan, Spencer, Kayla, Cody, Loren and Caroline; nieces and nephews, Bill, Don, Steve and Judy.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with the Rev. Weyland Stewart officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
