VFW Post 1697 conducts two Flag Retirement Ceremonies annually in conjunction with the John Sevier Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Desmond T. Doss American Legion Post 257. These events are supported by local JROTC, Pathfinder, and Boy Scouts of America.
The Flag Retirement Ceremonies are conducted on Flag Day (June 14th) and Patriot Day (September 11th) at 6:00 PM in Veterans Memorial Park of Collegedale.
